General Facts:
I was born in Athens in 1978 where stayed until I was four. From 1982 until 1986 I was in Melbourne. Since 1986 I have been living in Athens.

Studies:
  • 1996: 2nd Ηigh School of Argiroupoli (Grade 16.34/20)
  • 2003: School of Rural and Surveying Engineering (NTUA) (Grade 8.57/10)
  • 2004 - 2012: Working on my Ph.D. thesis.

Academic Honors:
  • Scholar of the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (1998-2001)
  • Scholar of the Technical Chamber of Greece (1999-2001)
  • Holder of the award “Demetrios Labadarios” (2004)
  • Holder of the award "Thomaidio", 2nd best Doctoral Thesis on an Interdisciplinary Subject (2012)

Research Interests:
My diploma thesis was entitled "Orientation of stereopairs using lines and external object constraints". This thesis was done at the laboratory of Photogrammetry under the supervision of the Professor George Karras.
From 2005 to 2012 I dealt with my Ph.D. thesis. Its basic goal was to construct a Hand-Held 3D Laser Scanner. This thesis was also done through the laboratory of Photogrammetry under the supervision of the Professor George Karras and was financed by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation. The final thesis, titled "Development of a Photogrammetric Laser Scanner Using Additional Geometrical Constraints" was judged as successful in March of 2012.
The basic principal of the scanner is triangulation between a plane that is implemented with a laser and a camera. Each point of the 3D space, which is depicted dyed from laser plane, has known 3D coordinates in the reference system of the camera. The accuracy and robustness of the point cloud produced, is increased by using additional geometrical constraints.

Occupation:
I am working at the Public Power Cooperation SA (Greece) in the Real Estate & Facilities Management Department.
In the past I was a freelance engineer being at times under contact with:
  • Neon Energy - Land surveys and layouts
  • Power Made - Subcontactor
  • Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications & Remote Sensing (National Observatory of Athens) - Image analysis and pattern recognition from satellite and UAV sensors.
  • Engineer Officers Technical School (Greek Army) - Professor of Descriptive Geometry
  • Surveying School of the Hellenic Military Geographical Service - Assistant Professor of Higher Geodesy
  • NTUA - Assistant Educator for the undergraduate course of Introduction to Informatics
  • NTUA - Assistant Educator for the undergraduate course of Programming Techniques
  • NTUA - Assistant Educator for the undergraduate course of Photogrammetry III (Digital Photogrammetry)
